Leocadia I. Zak became the ninth president of Agnes Scott College in July 2018.

During Zak's tenure, Agnes Scott has achieved record enrollment and fundraising, launched graduate programs and been recognized by U.S. News & World Report for innovation, teaching, first-year experience and social mobility. With her appointment of the college’s first vice president for equity and inclusion, who now oversees the Office of People and Culture, Agnes Scott has further strengthened its commitment to community and to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. The college was designated as a Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation Campus Center by the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) and launched its first JEDI annual plan in 2020.

Under Zak's leadership, Agnes Scott developed a strategic plan, Pathway to Success, that will guide the college through 2026. Core themes of the plan are providing a transformative education, ensuring student success, building a culture of community and engaging the world beyond the campus.  She also hosts an inspiring leadership-centered podcast, Journeys to Leadership, which spotlights women leaders from around the globe to share their stories of success.

Zak is the immediate past board chair of the Atlanta Regional Council for Higher Education (ARCHE) and serves on the American Council on Education (ACE) Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Georgia Independent College Association.  She is a member of the Rotary Club of Atlanta, International Women’s Forum (IWF) and serves on several community boards.

With an extensive background in international economic development and international project finance, in 2010, Zak was appointed by President Obama and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as director of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency.

Before joining the public sector, Zak was a partner at the international law firm Mintz Levin, where she practiced international and domestic project finance in the Boston and Washington, D.C., offices.  A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Mount Holyoke College, which recognized her as a Woman of Influence in 2012, she holds a JD degree from Northeastern University School of Law.

Automatic In Person Attendance Registration Available!
Are you attending the KCA weekly meetings in person all the time and want to skip the registration process?  Just email Karen at KiwanisClubAtlanta@gmail.com and have your name added to the automatic attendance list.  Easy Peasy.  All we ask is that you let us know when you ARE NOT going to be there so we don't have extra food ordered.  Add your name to the list today and we will see you on Tuesday, Jan 4th!
KCA Weekly Meeting Registration due on Thursdays at Noon
The deadline to submit your reservation to attend the weekly meeting is now Thursday at Noon.  The Loudermilk Center caterers need to order our food on Fridays for delivery early the next week.  So we don't have the ability to get additional food at the last minute.  If you don't have a reservation, you are welcome to attend the meeting, but must wait until after the meeting starts to see if there is food remaining.  Thanks for your help with this.
Past KCA  Zoom! Virtual Club Meetings for You to Watch!
We have had great speakers during our Kiwanis Club of Atlanta Zoom meetings!  If you couldn't participate, we have saved all of them to Dropbox, but the most recent ones are available through the live link of the speaker name listed below!  Click more to see the list of the most recent speakers and send an email to KiwanisClubAtlanta@gmail.com to let us know which meetings you would like to have. laugh  Remember, you can always check out past speakers by viewing the past bulletins archived on our web site.

KCA Lunch Cancellation Policy
The KCA Weekly Luncheon meetings are the best place to come, hear our fabulous speakers, enjoy fellowship and a fabulous lunch.  Starting in November, our food service will again be provided by the Loudermilk Center catering department, so no more bringing in bags of meals, plates, etc.!  However, with this change we must have a firm reservation count by the Friday noon prior to the meeting.  So last minute add ons will be more difficult.  This also means that when you do make a reservation and do not attend, we have left over food that we must pay for.

Cancellation Policy: The board of directors approved a policy to begin charging all members that have a reservation, but do not attend, the cost of their meal.  Please be sure that you both make your reservation to attend, or cancel one that you may have, by Noon on the Friday prior to the luncheon!  If you currently are on the auto registration list, but are not attending regularly, please email me so that I can remove your name and you can sign up for the meetings you can attend.  And if you are attending regularly, consider adding your name to the auto registration list so that you don't have to worry about it!

Thanks for your attention to this!
