Rear Admiral Carpenter is a frequent speaker and panelist on the topic of leadership in crisis and particularly enjoys participating in programs designed to positively motivate and influence the youth of the Nation.  Following retirement from the U.S. Navy, Rear Admiral Carpenter became the 10th and first woman president of the State of New York Maritime College, successfully guiding the college through the rigorous 10 year reaccreditation process with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the 5 year USCG certification process.  She also set new benchmarks in graduation rates and in fund raising for the college, and began the strategic effort, which eventually led to the funding of a new training ship. She is most proud of the support and relief provided to surrounding communities in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.  Wendi B. Carpenter is a retired United States Navy flag officer, retiring in 2011 after a distinguished 34 year career with significant operational experience and key roles in organizational transformation, technology development, and innovation that spanned the U.S. Navy, joint and coalition arenas.

Rear Admiral Carpenter was a pioneer of women in Naval Aviation (designated in July 1979), and was the first woman aviator to be promoted to flag rank in the U.S. Navy.   In many other career assignments, she also was a leading pioneer, including several key assignments to United States Second Fleet (as an expert in air warfare command and control and as Deputy Commander).  In her final assignment as the Commander of the Navy’s Warfare Development Command, she was the Navy’s lead in the development and integration of unmanned systems from seabed to space and launching innovative new information systems and cyber warfare concepts, which impact decision making and operational employment of resources.

Rear Admiral Carpenter is the recipient of numerous civilian and military leadership awards, including the Navy Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, and the Federal Law Enforcement Foundation Lifetime Community Service Award.   She was recently inducted into the Georgia Military Veterans Hall of Fame, Class 2019.    Rear Admiral Carpenter holds a BS degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia, a Masters of Arts in International Relations from Salve Regina University, and is a Distinguished Graduate of the U.S. Naval War College, with a Strategic Studies concentration.   She has also completed numerous executive programs at Babson College, the University of North Carolina Business School and the NATO School in Germany.

Rear Admiral Carpenter is the founder of Gold Star Strategies, LLC and operates as an international business consultant with a focus on leadership development and executive functions.  She serves as a member of numerous advisory and nonprofit boards, including the Affordable Housing Advisory Council of the Atlanta Federal Home Loan Bank and the Board of the Navy League’s Atlanta Council.  She is also the Executive Director of the Captain Richard Phillips Lane Kirkland Maritime Trust with the mission devoted to strengthening the U.S. Maritime Industry and providing scholarships to students pursuing a career in the industry.

KCA Communications and Bulletins - We Want to Talk to You!
Are you having trouble receiving the KCA Bulletins and other email communications?  It appears that computer systems/servers who use Symantec are having trouble getting communications from our ClubRunner system delivered to their inboxes.  While we work on this issue with ClubRunner, I have an email list serve set up through Outlook to send the bulletins out each week to those who need it.  And if you are  having trouble receiving your quarterly bills, I can send them to you through QuickBooks.  Just email me at KiwanisClubAtlanta@gmail.com and I will add you to the list!
Please Share With Us How and What You Are Doing

Social media is a great way to stay connected during these disconnected times. We created a Google document to update your fellow Kiwanians about what you, your companies and your organizations are doing right now.
